A LIFE OF FULL-TIME MOTHER

Introduction: Being a mother is a true blessing, 'direct from God and motherhood is a full-time job-No Casual leaves, No-Sick leaves, No- meal breaks, and No Tea Breaks. But, it's all worth it. when you see your kid smiling and loving the life you have provided him/her. But sometimes it becomes challenging to cope with parenting and daily chores.

In this blog, you will find insights into daily life routines, challenges, and tips from a full-time mother.

Challenges:

1. Eating Habits: Almost every parent complains about the difficulties they face while getting their children to eat healthy food. Now that is the most challenging part of motherhood. Kids are moody. What they have eaten today, they might not like it tomorrow. Also, they get easily attracted to unhealthy items such as Chocolates, Ice-Creams, and Packed food items and tend to ignore healthy items such as Milk, Vegetables, etc. But we all know the importance of healthy nutrition for kids. So, there are certain things that you can do to make your kid have healthy food, without scolding them.

  • Tips:

It is rightly said that children are a great mimic and they love to mimic their parents. By maintaining a healthy, balanced diet themselves, parents may model appropriate eating behavior for their kids.

Include kids in meal planning and preparation by letting them help with recipe selection, grocery shopping, and dinner preparation. Their curiosity in sampling new meals may increase as a result of this interaction.

Establish a cheerful and relaxed mood at mealtimes. Give yourself ample time to eat and stay away from gadgets. This will also help you to bond better with your kids.

Extra Tip: Offer a wide variety of healthy food options starting at a young age. Their taste preferences may evolve with this exposure, and their propensity for fussy eating may decline.

2. Use of Mobile phones: In the modern era of digitization, mobile phones are a necessary component of one's daily life. With the rise of the involvement of Mobile phones in our daily life, a significant rise in screen time for children is also observed. Although controlling kids' mobile phone use might be difficult, it is feasible with a proactive approach. Here are some tips for limiting kids' screen time:

  • Tips:

Kids are attention seekers and will do all the possible things to get their parent's attention. But if you don’t give them enough time, they’ll look for alternative things and mobile phones are easy access for them. So they will try to reach for mobile phones. The simple tip is to give them proper time by playing with them, getting them to walk, and listening to their distorted stories. This will give them the proper attention that they need from their parents.

Now, at some point, you’ll also feel the need to introduce them to mobile phones but with that, you’ll need to establish rules regarding mobile phone usage, such as designated hours when they can use the phone and times when it's not allowed, like during meals and before bedtime.

Be a role model and show a good example by limiting your own screen time and being present during family activities without constantly checking your phone.

3. Getting them to bed: The other major task for parents is to get their kids to bed on time. But it is important to get them to bed on time. Creating a relaxing atmosphere for sleep and establishing a nightly ritual might be helpful. Below are some tips from an experienced mother:

  • Tips:

Establish a regular, relaxing nighttime ritual that lasts between 30 and 60 minutes. Activities could include reading, taking a warm bath, cleaning their teeth, or having a calm conversation about their day.

Make their bedroom relaxing and sleep-friendly. Keep the space silent, chilly, and dark. If necessary, think about utilizing white noise machines and blackout curtains.

Limiting daytime naps can also help get your kids in bed on time. If your kid sleeps during the day, make sure they don't happen too close to bedtime because it might make it difficult for them to sleep at night.

As a mother, these are the most challenging situations that I face in my everyday life. Every child is different and every mother faces different challenges. But there is nothing that a mother cannot do. Be calm, consistent, and connected to your kid. It helps a mother or a parent in general to understand the psychology of their kid. And this will help them with all the challenges and make a stronger bond with their kids.
